'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

The Big Kiwifruit at Te Puke.

Te Puke (Tay Poo-kay), 'Kiwifruit Capital of the World', is only about twenty minutes away from here, and as we were passing through, we called in at "Kiwifruit Country".

We didn't take the tour nor ride on the little Kiwi-trains, but we did climb up the Big Kiwifruit and wave out the top.

Oh, and you can click here to find out how to prepare them.

  1. Have you ever heard of Longaberger Baskets? They are famous here, and considered collectible. The Longaberger family built their headquarters in the shape of a basket! See this link:

Or if easier, just Google Longaberger Basket building. It's about 40 minutes from here, and I still have to stare at it every time I drive past it!

  4. It's hard not to miss things that are massive. There's at least one big pineapple in Queensland, a big banana in Fiji, and a big strawberry up the road...
    Thanks for your comments, guys.

Welcome to TLVD valariews ! I will visit you when I have a spare moment.....

  5. I find coming across these things while driving as destracting as talking on a cell phone. I remember seeing many years ago the work of an american artist whose works consisted of very large replicas of ordinary supermarket purchases like cereal boxes, washing powder boxes etc - the large scale of these items certainly brings them to your attention.

  6. You myst have felt like a Lilliputian in "Gulliver's Travels"! Were there any other big fruits lying around like bananas the size of jumbo jets?

  7. Fun! I love kiwi, but oddly enough when I eat one it makes the roof of my mouth tingle & itch (and yes I do peel them before eating!).

  8. Lizzy - sounds odd! I can't eat the green ones...they ...er ...have a strong 'cleaning-out' effect. But the GOLD ones - YUM!

YP - We pass this one quite often and barely glance at it, but Ann and Claire loved it!

Pal - I seem to vaguely remember that artist... His name is....?
One of my student colleagues is very keen on pop art. He's a 'more mature' student like me. Actually half the class is.
