'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

The same moon

... And the moon and the stars are the same ones you see, it's the same old sun up in the sky ...

  1. I THINK I thank you for posting this - John Denver has been one of may favourites since I first saw him on The Old Grey Whistle Test on TV when he first came to England - an unknown and spotty youth - BUT he always makes me cry!
Happy Easter from sniffy me !

  2. It's thirteen years since John Denver died. The governor of Colorado ordered all state flags to fly at half mast and at his funeral, John Denver was buried with the old Gibson guitar his grandmother had given him. He was a truly original songwriter and as this clip demonstrates, he had a lovely, tuneful singing voice. A shame he went too early.

  4. That was a lovely song, and one I'd never heard. It was so sad to read about his death, such a tragedy.

I will always remember my neighbour when I think of John Denver. She loved Annie's Song when it came out but was caring for young children and had no time to track down what it was, who sang it or find herself a copy, and I did that for her. She was so pleased! And I was only about twelve and found out how good it could feel to do something nice for someone. ;)

  6. Beautiful song from a man taken in his prime, with so much to still offer - thanks for the memory Katherine, I had almost forgotten how so very good he was as a singer songwriter.

  7. He was always a favorite; I saw him in concert in '95 and really enjoyed it. Thanks...

  8. Alden - simplicity is not achieved directly - it is something reached when you get to the essence of the object.

Beau - you're welcome. I never saw him... I wonder if Harry Nilsson's song "Mother Nature's Son' was written about him? Hmmm...
